Transrotor Story

Transrotor, a pioneer in the turntable industry, was founded by Jochen Räke in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. Räke’s innovative approach, influenced by the distinct qualities of British turntables, led to partnerships with notable figures like David Gammon, enabling the importation of esteemed models such as the Transcriptor Hydraulic Reference. By meticulously refining these designs, Räke harmoniously merged British individualism with German precision, laying the foundation for the inception of Transrotor in 1971, which paid homage to the Transcriptor legacy.

The company made a striking entrance at the International Consumer Electronics Fair (IFA) in Berlin the same year, opting for a minimalist presentation reminiscent of the iconic turntable featured in Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange, captivating the imagination of attendees. This strategic maneuver solidified Räke’s reputation as a trailblazer in the hi-fi community, appealing to audiophiles who sought both unconventional aesthetics and unwavering performance.
